Practice this ancient form of Yoga and meditation in the country where it was born. This Yoga tour focuses on health, fitness, and relaxation through yoga and wellness retreats in India. Along with daily yoga and meditation sessions, you’ll enjoy healing therapies designed to rejuvenate the body and mind. Between wellness practices, there will be leisurely visits to iconic monuments and serene locations, giving you a perfect blend of spiritual growth and cultural exploration. Unwind, detox, and experience the essence of Indian wellness traditions.

Itinerary:

Welcome to India! Today is all about arriving and getting settled in Delhi before we head to Dharamshala. You’ll have time to rest and adjust, preparing for the exciting week ahead. If you arrive early, you can explore the city at your own pace or simply relax. Tomorrow, we’ll take off for Dharamshala to begin our yoga and wellness retreat, surrounded by the peaceful Himalayan mountains.

Today, we’ll make our way to Dharamshala, situated in the Himalayas, a place where yoga and spirituality come alive in a rich cultural setting. Throughout the week, we’ll deepen our yoga practice by visiting sacred temples dedicated to Shiva, Bhagsu Nag, and Buddha. We’ll also explore ancient forts and hike through the breathtaking Dhauladhar Mountains. Dharamshala is one of India’s most peaceful and culturally rich destinations, also known for being the home of the Tibetan government-in-exile and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The retreat starts after 3:00 PM at our hotel. A driver will be arranged to pick you up from Dharamshala airport, or you can choose any other preferred mode of transportation to arrive.

A day in nature! And exercise! Wake up and honor the day with meditation and asana dedicated to connecting with our inner spiritual seeker.

This day will be dedicated to connecting with the natural beauty of the region. After breakfast, you’ll have the option to embark on a strenuous hike to the Dharamshala Cricket Ground, where you’ll be rewarded with stunning views and an up-close experience of life in the Himalayas. For those preferring a less demanding activity, a guided walk along scenic footpaths is available. You’ll follow routes used for generations by local families, farmers, and herders, and visit a nearby village to gain a more intimate understanding of the region’s culture. We’ll return to the hotel for lunch, after which you’ll have free time to rest, read, or enjoy the spa. In the late afternoon, we’ll visit the Norbulingka Institute to observe traditional Tibetan artisans at work. As evening approaches, we’ll take a short walk to the riverbank for a private kirtan ceremony by a campfire, with an optional cleansing dip in the river.

After breakfast, we’ll head to McLeod Ganj, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn about Buddhism and the Tibetan government-in-exile. We’ll explore the lively local markets, where you can immerse yourself in the region’s vibrant culture and craftsmanship. Later, we’ll visit the Bhagsu Nag Temple, a sacred site dedicated to Lord Shiva. We’ll return to the hotel for lunch, after which you can choose to relax by the tranquil riverbank. For those interested, an optional excursion to Tatwani Hot Springs is available. This small, natural hot spring is believed to have  healing properties, particularly for skin ailments. Located about 40 km from the hotel, it offers a peaceful and rejuvenating experience.

Tatwani hot spring

A day in Nature. For those signed up for the Triund trek, breakfast will be packed, and you’ll depart early in the morning, aiming to return by late afternoon. The rest of the group, after breakfast, will visit the tea plantations in Dharamshala, where a small but exquisite amount of tea is produced. The scenic beauty of the plantations will leave you mesmerized, and you’ll also learn about the various types of tea grown in the region. The afternoon and early evening are unscheduled, with an hour set aside for gentle pranayama and meditation. You may also choose to spend the day relaxing by the river or soaking in the stunning views of the Dhauladhar Mountains. In the evening, we’ll gather around the campfire for dinner and enjoy a satsang, sharing our experiences and favorite moments of the journey so far.

Triund trek

After morning yoga and breakfast, you’ll have the option to relax at the hotel, enjoy an optional spa treatment, or join one of our guides for a bike ride or hike in the mountains. After lunch, we’ll head to Naddi View Point, where we’ll begin a scenic hike or walk to Dharamkot. Along the way, you’ll pass vibrant Buddhist prayer flags, adding a touch of color to the serene landscape. These areas are popular meditation spots for Buddhists, and if you feel inspired, you can take a moment to sit and meditate amidst the peaceful surroundings. After dinner, we’ll gather around the  bonfire to share interesting stories from our lives.

We’ll wake to Vinyasa yoga, followed another leisurely breakfast. Our last final full day in Dharamshala, we’re holding space for a “free day” for you to relax or explore your own interests. For those of you who are do-ers, all types of activities and excursions can be arranged. Want to do an activity again? No problem, we can make it happen! We’ll have one final pranayama and meditation practice with our final chant together. Then, we’ll meet by the campfire one.

The retreat concludes after the morning practice and breakfast. For guests departing from Dharamshala to Delhi, we will arrange your airport transfers with the hotel drivers.
